LISTEN TO THE PROS!

YOU NEED A PUTTER, A MID-RANGE AND A FAIRWAY DRIVER.

NOT YOUR “ARMAGEDDON ANDY”!

We aren’t in any position to tell you what discs you should throw. And let’s face it, you are going to be stubborn about it anyway. You are going to see a disc that’s made in your favorite color green with a stamp of a flaming dragon (also your favorite) and you are going to just lose you mind. That is going to be your disc. That disc is going to fly perfectly for you because it’s green with your flaming dragon that you’ll nickname “Armageddon Andy “. Nobody is going to tell you different. Unfortunately, sadly, truthfully and endlessly, that is not how discs work. As much as you like your green flaming dragon “Armageddon Andy”, it will be as useless as to you in the beginning as throwing a brick.

There is a lot to learn about discs and unfortunately while you did not know it, your “Armageddon Andy” was created for pros and not beginners. Together, over time, we will work towards teaching you about these discs and when you are ready for them, but for now to get started on the right path we asked the pros what 3 discs (Putter, Mid-range, Driver) they hand to a beginner every time.

Hopefully you’ll be able to find three to chose from that inspires you as much as your “Armageddon Andy”.  Good Luck and listen to the pros!

THE PROS PICKS FOR EVERY BEGINNER:

CHRIS DICKERSON – TEAM PRODIGY

THOMAS GILBERT  – TEAM PRODIGY

KRISTIN TATTAR – TEAM LATTITUDE 64

I would recommend straight flying discs like Medium Pure (putter), Fuse (midrange) and Jade (driver).

WILL SCHUSTERICK – TEAM PRODIGY

PA4, M4, F7.

MATT BELL – TEAM DGA

“I would recommend the reef  as a putter for a beginner as it’s very easy to grip and tosses straight. The Sail would be my next recommendation, much like the name it soars with minimal effort on any flight pattern. If any disc would get a beginner hooked on disc golf it would be the flight of the proline pipeline it’s easy to turn and with the right throw will glide out towards your target from any release angle.”

REEF, SAIL, PIPELINE

ALBERT “BAZOOKA” TAMM – TEAM LATTITUDE 64

Medium Pure, Vip Tursas and Lucid Maverick

SARAH HOKOM – TEAM MVP

170g Electron Spin, 170g Electron Matrix, 165g Neutron Relay

ANDREW PREZNELL – TEAM DISCRAFT

Putter- Whatever is comfortable, Midrange- Buzzz SS, Fairway- Mantis

HOLLY FINLEY – TEAM INNOVA

Putter: 155g DX Stud,  Mid: 150g- 165g Star Mako3, Fairway: 150g Champion Eagle L

RICKY STEEHLER – TEAM MVP

When it comes to a beginner package you want to make sure the discs aren’t overstable, the most neutral discs/ flippy discs are way better.  I would say a PILOT, MATRIX, and a CRAVE.

DANNY LINDAHL – TEAM DYNAMIC DISC

For beginners I recommend a Deputy for a putter that will fly straight no matter how you throw it, an EMac Truth as a mid that will be useful for any skill level and you’ll never grow out of it. And for the fairway, the Escape is a fantastic disc that will go far at any armspeed as long as you get the nose down!

DEPUTY, EMAC TRUTH, ESCAPE

NATE PERKINS – TEAM DISCMANIA

Link , MD 3 , NIGHT STRIKE

CALVIN HEIMBURG – TEAM INNOVA

Aviar, Stingray, Leopard

EMERSON KEITH – TEAM LATTITUDE 64

Keystone, Truth, Diamond

RAGNA BYGDE LEWIS – TEAM PRODIGY

Pa4, M4 and F7 without a doubt!!

ZACH MELTON – TEAM DYNAMIC DISC

Three discs I would recommend to beginners would be Putter: Soft Ruby Mid: Patrol Fairway: Diamond. All 3 are understable and easy to throw as a beginner with very little arm speed. They teach you to be smooth and work different angles.

JESSICA WEESE – TEAM INNOVA

Kc Aviar, Star Coyote, and a Thunderbird
